What is car audio? Car audio is how we describe the sound system fitted in an car.
A regular car audio system refers to a manufacturer installed system. A custom car installation can involve anything from the upgrade of the radio to a total custom fit-out. Events are held where people compete for the loudest or most innovative systems.
The most common pieces of equipment are the radio/tape player/CD player/DVD Player called a Head unit, or a head deck. These components are likely to be upgraded with an after market product. Head unit technology has developed to include CD players with MP3, Ogg, WMA, AAC, and USB, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi support. Car audio systems can have line-in jacks and other equipment features like tape adaptors, and video touch screen that controlling; navigation, dvd movies, mp3 players, back up cameras, and other accessories.

CapacitorsCapacitors are used to store energy for the amplifier. Capacitors are useful because they can reduce voltage loss to other components in a car. Large capacitors sometimes offset headlight and/or interior light dimming because of too little amp draw from the alternator. A capacitor is only good for an audio system trying to get too many amps from the electrical system. A capacitor doesn't provide more power, it just stores it. The alternator must have more than 20% amp power than the entire vehicle and sound system combined for a capacitor to be of benefit. About 0.5 farad of capacitance is needed for every 500 watts of power. A capacitor does not affect sound in any way. It is strictly for power conditioning.

A subwoofer is a woofer, or a complete loudspeaker dedicated to the reproduction of bass audio frequencies, from perhaps 150 Hz down as far as 20 Hz, or in rare cases lower. Also known as "subs", these are used to augment the low frequency performance of main loudspeakers. Subwoofers are constructed by mounting one or more woofers typically between 8" and 21" in diameter in a well-braced wood or plastic enclosure. Subwoofers have been designed using a number of speaker enclosure designs, including bass reflex (with a port or tube in the enclosure), infinite baffle, horn-loaded, and bandpass designs, each of which has advantages and disadvantages in efficiency, size, distortion, cost, and power handling. Passive subwoofers have a subwoofer driver and enclosure and they are powered by an external amplifier. Active subwoofers include a built-in amplifier.

HKS Camp2 - Computerized Automobile Multi-Player
The HKS CAMP, known around the world as Computerized Automobile Multi-Player, debuted in 1996 as the first monitoring system of its kind. The HKS CAMP was designed as a graphical data display enabling end users to interface the CAMP system connected to the factory ECM to a heads- up audio/video display to monitor, in real-time scenario, multiple information from various engine parameters. The HKS CAMP system was considered a revolutionary unit, at a time when entry-level in-line fuel pumps and rise rate fuel pressure regulators were considered high-tech fuel management for the import tuner world.
The HKS CAMP offered visual options to display, such as speed, rpm, gas mileage, fuel consumption, and injector duty cycle, to name a few. The CAMP unit featured an impressive 32-bit RISC CPU for its day and was able to communicate with the end user's PC (Windows 95), enabling the user to analyze the vehicle data information from the comforts of his cockpit using a spreadsheet software. This invaluable tool was beneficial for CAMP users since they could display data logging graphs of rpm/speed/boost/fuel for every hundredth of a second to measure turbo boost in comparison to rpm/speed/fuel to properly recalibrate and tune the car. Using the optional HKS junction box, along with add-on sensors sold separately, expands the parameters of the CAMP, enabling drivers to monitor boost, EGT, temp, pressure, and G sensor unit. Perhaps the coolest feature that I always admired when using the previous version of the CAMP unit was the fish function screensaver, which displays an aquarium environment. The fish's growth and ability to thrive is dependent on things like speed and gas mileage. If your vehicle's air/fuel ran excessively rich or lean, the tropical fishes will tend to go belly up. In my case, the fishes never lasted for more than a minute-God bless their souls. The early version of the CAMP system was a performance enthusiast's dream come true; unfortunately many of its drawbacks came with its pre-OBD2 compatibility (and need to purchase the optional sensors and junction box unit, which ran the cost of the complete package setup upwards of $1,000).

Power Venom S Series
A mono amplifier makes a great choice for powering subwoofers. They're specifically designed for low-frequency reproduction, with built-in bass boost and low-pass filters. Class D mono amps are often a good choice — they draw less current, produce less heat, and are more efficient than conventional amp designs. You can use a 2-channel amp for powering two subs, or bridge the amp to single channel operation for a single woofer. Likewise, a 4-channel amp can be bridged to 2-channel mode to power a pair of subs. How much power you need depends on the subwoofer(s) you'll be using, but figure on at least 150-200 watts per sub for 10" or 12" subwoofers.
